San Diego - ENGLISH

Dominika:  Leaving Colorado was not easy. I promised myself I will not be crying at the airport but saying goodbye  to the people who became my second family here in the US was harder than I expected. So there were tears (fortunately at the airport they are prepared for such situations and before I even thought  that I could really use a tissue there was somebody behind me waiting with the whole pack!). And I guess Colorado was not ready to let me go just yet because when I went through security and was looking for my gate I heard tornado alert and suddenly everyone in a panic began to head towards shelters where we spent next 40 minutes in a fairly claustrophobic room. Luckily everything ended well and my flight was delayed only 20 minutes. This is called a farewell! Few hours later I was in Los Angeles saying hello to my new host family. The day which was both, my last day with my first family and the first day with the new one was really intense. And the next days did not allowed me to slow down. Getting to know the family, the neighborhood, meeting new people, being new in the new place all over again! But with the year of experience it was easier. Just over a week after arriving in Los Angeles my new au pair friend asked me if I would like to join her and her friends on a road trip to San Diego. How could I say no to the next trip! And since Sara also arrived to her new host family and Newport  Beach happened to be on the way to our final destination, she joined us as well! To avoid traffic (and traffic in Los Angeles is a nightmare) we left at 5am and by 9am we were in San Diego. Our first stop was Tuna Harbor Park with the Sailor-Kissing-Nurse Statue. Then we went for a walk around scenic promenade which makes its way to the fish market with shops and restaurants along the way. When we got back to the car we decided that if we are going to spend a whole day exploring San Diego we definitely need coffee! Stocked with caffeine we headed to Coronado Beach with the amazing sand beach shimmering in gold. Then came the next beach-Ocean Beach- near which were lots of shops and restaurants, so after some lazy time at the beach we went for a luch. Another place on the list was famous La Jolla. The rocky shores and beaches make this place truly beautiful. We visited La Jolla Cove and said hello from up close to sea lions! After taking some pictures and hanging out by the ocean we decided to go for a drink before heading back. And so this incredibly long but fun day passed, around 9pm we were back in the car and ready to drive back to Los Angeles!
